The family of the passenger involved in the fatal crash that claimed the life of Baby Mason is speaking out.

They said she survived the accident, but now faces a long road to recovery without insurance.

Deborah Lachico, aunt of 22-year-old Lyanna Casares, told us her niece has been diagnosed with Post Tramatic Stress Disorder following the crash.

“They had to disconnect the phone,” said Lachico. “Any little noise scares her but unfortunately, she doesn’t have insurance and the hospital is having to discharge her she is going to be facing months of rehab without any walking device."

Lachico told Action 4 News that her niece had to be pulled out of the car with the jaws of life and she believes it’s a miracle that she even survived the accident.

Cazarez, Baby Mason and his mother where returning from the home of Chris Kruger, the Applebees employee that choked and died at the restaurant recently. They were dropping of donations to his mother.

Lyanne Casarez was discharged from the hospital Friday.

Her family has set up an account at Capital One Bank accepting donations from community members to help pay for her rehabilitation and medical expenses.

The alleged drunk driver that caused the crash, Joe Montez, went before a judge again on Friday.

Charges were upgraded to intoxication manslaughter following Baby Mason's death, and two counts of intoxication assault for the injuries  Casarez and the baby's mother.
.
Montez's bond is set at $650,000.
