Brownsville and Los Fresnos Fire Departments worked side by side Saturday in order to control a fire that burned for hours.

It started out as a grass fire around 11 a.m. before it quickly spread to a nearby junk yard in Olmito.

Some piles of shredded tire pieces around the yard caught on fire.

Eight firetrucks were able to respond to the scene.

It took around four hours to control the flames and a total of ten acres of land were burned from the fire.

Texas Comission on Environment Quality was called to the location.

One firefighter was transported to hospital for heat exhaustion.
