Authorities have taken a man into custody following a Wednesday morning shooting at a school in Edinburg.

The shooting happened at the Quest Academy off North Rooth Road around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a woman is the victim and a male suspect is in custody.

The incident is being classified as a "domestic disturbance" or "family violence" between an employee and her estranged husband.

The woman has been hospitalized where she's receiving treatment for a non life-threatening injury to one of her arms.

The man surrendered to authorities off FM 907 and FM 107 but his truck remained at the school's north parking lot.

The Quest Academy is part of the IDEA Public Schools system.

IDEA Public Schools President Tom Torkelson told KURV-AM that the shooting was an "isolated incident" and that no students were injured or on campus at the time.

Torkelson told KURV that the campus remains closed but the school has rerouted students to the Boys & Girls Club off Rogers Road and Highway 281 in Edinburg.

Parents are being allowed to pick up their children there. Classes are cancelled for the day at Quest Academy.

Edinburg CISD spokes Gilbert Tagle said Longoria Middle School and a nearby elementary school are open for regular hours.
