CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Republicans have set up camp right outside the Democratic National Convention in downtown Charlotte.

Its purpose, according to Republican officials, is to make sure the Democrats' message does not go unchallenged.

"We're going to continue to take our message as Democrats sort of descend upon Charlotte that people in North Carolina are not better off than they were four years ago," said North Carolina Communcations Director for Romney for President Robert Reid. "People across the country are not better off than they were four years ago."

Republicans have set up headquarters at NASCAR Plaza where websites and social media accounts, in addition to other media, are being manned for the Republican party.

Additionally, daily news conferences are being hosted at the headquarters with well-known Republicans such as South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin.

Officials said the Democrats had  similar headquarters last week in Tampa during the Republican National Convention.
