Authorities have placed San Benito High School under lockdown after a knife-wielding man showed up at a county building next door.

The whole incident started at the Cameron County Annex Building off North Oscar Williams and Expressway 77/83 just after 12 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a man showed up with a knife at the county annex building.

The knife-wielding man was allegedly talking to himself and appeared to be suicidal.

Authorities said the man stabbed a poster on the wall, left the knife at the scene and then fled on foot.

Police are searching the area for the suspect but are not sure if he has another weapon.

The man is described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 3 inches tall wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
