A Harlingen teen is facing criminal charges after a domestic disturbance where he was tased after allegedly lunging at a police officer with a knife.
It all happened at a home on the 400 block of Lozano Street around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Harlingen police told Action 4 News that officers were called to a domestic disturbance where a 16-year-old boy had a knife.
The teen allegedly became upset when his mother asked him to take out the trash.
Domestic Disturbance
The 16-year-old broke vases and tried carving profane words into the front door with a knife.
Investigators said that the teen ignored commands to put down the knife.
The boy's mother told police that her son had also threatened to stab police officers.
A police officer used his taser after the teen allegedly lunged at him with the knife in attempt to stab him.
Criminal Charges
While in handcuffs, the 16-year-old allegedly told police that he had been smoking marijuana earlier that day.
Paramedics rushed the teen to the Valley Baptist Medical Center for evaluation and to remove the taser probes.
Doctors cleared the teen and police took him into custody where they filed an aggravated assault of a public servant charge against him.
The teen remains in custody at the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center in San Benito.
