A Las Milpas man is behind bars after gunfire led police to both him and 678 pounds of marijuana at his house.

It all started on the 400 block of Darlene Avenue in the Las Milpas area of Pharr around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators told Action4 News that police officers were called to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire.

Pharr police chased 29-year-old Jesus Treviño in a green jeep but he bailed out in front of his home on St. John Drive.

Treviño managed to run all the way to Jacobo Street a few blocks way where he forced himself into a woman's home.

Offciers arrested Treviño there and found 52 bundles with 678 pounds of marijuana at this home.

Investigators told Action 4 News that two adult women and children were living at the home in squalid conditions prompting police to notify Child Protective Services.

Treviño remains behind bars under burglary of a habitation, evading arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with identification number charges.
