A Mission man and a teenager are behind bars after they allegedly beat a woman following a road rage incident in the streets of Harlingen.
Harlingen police arrested 36-year-old Miguel Angel Perez and a 13-year-old boy shortly after the Thursday afternoon attack.
Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened off North Ed Carey Drive and East Washington Avenue around 4:10 p.m. Thursday.
Road Rage
A 23-year-old woman told police that Perez was speeding and almost hit her car with his black Chevrolet Avalanche.
The two got out of their car and started arguing.
Perez allegedly accused the woman of cutting him off in traffic, punched her in the face and kicked her in the stomach while down on the ground.
The woman told police that Perez tried to run her over and left in his SUV but came back with a crowbar.
Perez allegedly tried to hit her with the crowbar but missed.
The 13-year-old boy allegedly joined Perez in the attack and punched the woman in the face.
Criminal Charges
Paramedics rushed the woman to the Valley Baptist Medical Center while police officers tracked down Perez and the teen to a home on Live Oak Circle.
The relationship between Perez and the 13-year-old boy is not clear but police charged Perez with aggravated assault and the 13-year-old with assault.
Perez appeared before a Harlingen municipal court judge on Friday morning where he was issued a $50,000 dollar bond.
The teen remains in custody at the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center in San Benito.
