Harlingen police arrested a woman who attempted to steal more than $530 worth of boys clothing from a JCPenney store.

A Loss Prevention Officer said the woman walked into the store with her family on Monday night.

Via surveillance footage, the officer saw them walk into the Children’s Department.

The family, including a young boy, walked to a nearby department while Kristy Alcala stuff items of clothing into a plastic Dillard’s bag.

Alcala went to a cashier and purchased two blouses before attempting to walk out of the store.

The Loss Prevention Officer stopped Alcala and escorted her to the security office.

The officer recovered 17 boy shorts, 20 boys shirts and 7 linen tees before she ran out.

Alcala was caught by police at Walmart.

She was taken to city jail and charged with theft.
