51-year-old critially injured after San Benito hit and run

A 51-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by car Thursday night.

The San Benito Police Department responded to the area of South Frontage Road and Hidalgo Street around 9 p.m.

Ruben Saldana was found with head injuries and unconscious by the side of the road.

EMS was called to the scene and Saldana was immediately transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center.

He has been listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information about the driver who fled the scene can contact the police department at 956-361-3880.
