A marijuana distribution ring in the City of Edinburg has been dismantled by police.
Lt. Oscar Trevino told Action 4 News that an officer made a traffic stop on north McColl Road late Tuesday evening.
Inside the car he saw a suspicious suitcase.
Trevino said the officer called for a K-9 officer---and he was able to detect the marijuana.
Trevino said no one in the vehicle wanted to claim ownership of the drugs---so police got a search warrant and searched the trio’s home located at 2509 Toledo Road in Edinburg.
Inside they found more marijuana, a gun, and packaging materials.
"As for the destination of the marijuana---the investigators are looking at that right now and how long this has been taking place," Trevino said.
‘Angie’, who lives in the neighborhood, told Action 4 News the arrest does not surprise her.
She said in recent years her neighborhood has become a haven for illegal activity.
"A lot of them don't even live here. I think they're just using it as a business,” She said.
The three suspects in this case are expected to be charged on Thursday with possession of marijuana.
