A facial tattoo may have betrayed the first suspect arrested in a drug-related kidnapping where authorities later found the body of the victim in Rancho Viejo.

Brownsville police arrested 29-year-old Francisco Javier Flores on a murder charge Monday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Flores is accused in the death of 22-year-old Reyes Bocanegra.

Five gunmen kidnapped Bocanegra outside the Mariscos Playa Azul seafood restaurant off Military Highway on July 18th.

Authorities found Bocanegra's body a short time later off Roberta Road in the Rancho Viejo area.

Identified Via Tattoo

Brownsville police said in a previous interview that the murder had a Matamoros connection and was drug-related.

Court records obtained by Action 4 News show that witnesses identified Flores out of a photo line-up.

Witnesses told police that Flores was armed and appeared to be directing the other four men.

Court records show that the witnesses were able to identify Flores through a small tattoo on the right side of his face.

Court Appearance

Flores appeared before Brownsville Municipal Court Judge Ignacio Torteya on Tuesday morning where he was issued a $500,000 dollar bond.

Court records show that Flores was on parole for aggravated assault at the time of Bocanegra's kidnapping and murder.

The records show that Flores has other arrests going back to 2000 for evading arrest, resisting arrest and a hit & run accident.

The records show that his last known address was listed at a home off Rancho Viejo Avenue in the Cameron Park area of Brownsville.

Action 4 News will provide more details as they become available.
