Authorities are investigating a cross-border drug smuggling group after seizing six pounds of heroin headed to New York.

It all happened at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville on Wednesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Enrique Manuel Andrade on a federal drug charge.

Court records show that Andrade walked up with luggage to the pedestrian lane of the bridge.

Customs officers sent him to secondary inspection where authorities allegedly found six pounds of heroin inside his luggage.

Andrade allegedly told officers that he got $300 dollars to take the drugs via bus to Houston and then on to New York.

Andrade appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Felix Recio in Brownsville on Thursday morning.

Judge Recio denied bond for Andrade until a Monday afternoon court hearing.
