Almost twelve signs belonging to several political candidates were defaced with curse words and vulgar images in Donna.

Donna police told Action 4 News that it happens almost every year during elections but was more concentrated in this incident.

Police noted gang-related graffiti mixed in with than derogatory words and symbols.

Donna Police Chief Ruben DeLeon said more than likely the offenders are not affiliated with any political candidate.

DeLeon said signs from many different political races were defaced at the same time.

All candidates have been notified about the damage to their signs.

Police say, however, it is up to them to file a police report individually for their personal damage.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.
