New charges for two men accused in Spring Break stabbing

Two of the men accused in the South Padre Island stabbing of Spring Breaker Derek Madrigal are now facing additional charges.

Michael John Rangel and Jimmy Lee Zuniga appeared before Cameron County Justice of the Peace Benny Ochoa over the weekend.

Both men are now facing charges for engaging in organized crime.

Investigators are not releasing details but said in a previous statement that suspects the stabbing are connected to the Mexican Mafia prison gang.

Judge Ochoa issued Rangel a $500,000 dollar bond and issued Zuniga an $800,000 dollar bond.
