Operation Lone Star brings free health care to Valley

More than 5,000 Rio Grande Valley residents are expected to receive free health care this week as part of Operation Lone Star.

The Texas State Guard has teamed up with local health care providers and government agencies across the Valley.

They are providing free services including diabetic, blood pressure and sports physical exams as well as immunizations.

New this year, officials are offering dental cleanings, fillings and extracts and even  vision exams with free glasses.

Dental services will be provided at the Manzano Middle School site.

Children’s preventive dental services will be at Ringgold Middle School in Brownsville.

All clinics will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.

Rio Grande City: Ringgold Middle School, 1 S. Fort Ringgold         
San Juan: PSJA High School, 805 West Ridge Road            
Zapata: Zapata Middle School, 702 East 17th Street
