Authorities are conducting an autopsy on an 11-month-old Harlingen baby who died after allegedly being beaten by his own mother.

Paramedics rushed Baby Adam Noah Bravo to the Valley Baptist Medical Center on Monday.

Baby Adam spent several days in critical condition before passing away on Friday evening.

Preliminary autopsy results released on Monday show that the 11-month-old died from acute head trauma.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that Baby Adam's death is considered a homicide.

The boy's mother Barbara Bravo and her boyfriend Jesus Gonzalez remains behind bars under $500,000 dollar bonds for injury to a child charges.

According to court records, Bravo is accused of allegedly injuring the child while Gonzalez saw or knew about the abuse and failed to report it or stop it.

Investigators told Action 4 News that police are in contact with the Cameron County District Attorney's Office about upgrading the charges to murder or capital murder.

It's not clear if Bravo will be the only one to face the capital murder charge or if Gonzalez will be charged as well.

Funeral arrangements cannot be made until after Baby Adam's body has been released from custody but the Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria has already offered to hold it for free.
