A Brownsville man is behind bars after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and her two young children.

Brownsville police arrested 33-year-old Alberto de la Cruz on Friday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that De La Cruz is accused of a domestic violence incident back on July 1st.

De la Cruz’s girlfriend told police that he hit her and choked her at their home off the 1200 block of East Taylor Street.

Detectives learned that the woman’s 2-year-old and 11-month-old children also had fractures at different stages of healing.

De la Cruz allegedly told police that he “disciplined” the children because his girlfriend would not.

Detectives charged De la Cruz with assault family violence and two counts of injury to a child.

Child Protective Services is also investigating the abuse allegations while De la Cruz remains at the Cameron County Jail under $500,000 dollars in bonds.
