Authorities have confirmed that Texas State Rep. Armando Martinez (D-Weslaco) has been indicted by a grand jury in Hidalgo County.

District Attorney Rene Guerra confirmed that Martinez was indicted last week for interference with child custody.

Martinez could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Weslaco lawmaker serves in District 39, which includes most of eastern Hidalgo County.
