Authorities are asking residents secure their property following a series of thefts in rural areas of Cameron County.

Pct. 7 Constable Cesar Diaz said his deputy constables have made a series of arrests over the past week.

Brothers Martin Vallejo and George Antonio Vallejo were arrested on theft charges on Tuesday.

The two are accused of stealing equipment from a farm off Orange Grove Road just outside La Feria back on June 6th.

A witnesses reported the crime and gave deputy constables the license plates to their car.

Investigators learned that the two sold the equipment for $60 dollars at a scrap metal yard in neighboring Mercedes.

Constable Diaz said another theft recently took place off North Parker Road.

That's where deputy constables arrested Daniel Gonzalez-Marquez.

Gonzalez-Marquez told investigator he stole a pressure washer to get money to buy food for his younger sisters and elderly mother.

The sisters are now in Child Protective Services custody and the mother in Adult Protective Services custody.

Constable Diaz told Action 4 News that rural residents tneed o secure their property and report any suspicious activity.

"Contact the sheriff's office, contact our office or local police department," Diaz said. "Let us know what's going on out there. We were successful in apprehending these subjects by the witnesses being able to identify the vehicle and being able to get us the license plates of the vehicle."
