Electrical short prompts evacuation of Academy store in Brownsville

Shoppers at the Academy Sports + Outdoors store in Brownsville got a surprise on Friday morning.

An electrical short prompted authorities to evacuate the store just after 10:30 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported but several fire trucks were called to the scene.

Fire Chief Lenny Perez told Action 4 News that the store was evacuated as a precaution.

Investigators cleared the scene allowing customers and employees to return inside just before 11:30 a..m. Friday.
