BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (AP) -- A lawyer for a South Texas district attorney facing a dozen corruption-related charges has asked a judge to dismiss the indictment because it's so vague that it doesn't allow for a proper defense.

Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos was indicted in May, one of 12 people swept up in a federal probe of judicial corruption. He has denied all charges.

His attorney, Joel Androphy, filed the motion Friday, noting that the indictment names only Villalobos and his co-defendant despite allegations of a broad conspiracy. Others are referenced by pseudonym.

The investigation has netted guilty pleas from former state District Judge Abel Limas and other court officials.

Another person charged, Jose Manuel Longoria, was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty in November.
