Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in a canal north of Donna.
It all happened at a canal near Val Verde and Sioux Road around 5:44 p.m. Monday.
Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported that the body of 60-year-old Eliobardo Ramos Maldonado found floating in the water.
Authorities are waiting on autopsy results to learn more about the death of Maldonado.
Deputies told Action 4 News that Maldonado's body appeared to have trauma in the face.
Investigators believe the man’s decomposing body had been there most of the day possibly overnight.
