Two candidates in the Democratic Party race for Texas State Representative District 40 are headed to a runoff.
None of the four candidates managed to get more than 50 percent of the vote.
But candidates Terry Canales and Gus Hernandez emerged as the front runners.
Canales got 2,958 votes or about 31.3 percent of the ballot while Hernandez got 2,388 votes or 25.3 percent.
Candidate Robert Peña got 23.8 percent of the vote while Timeteo Betancourt got 1,853 percent.
The runoff election for Canales and Hernandez will be held on July 31st.
