A man, who was trying to elude police on a high speed chase, crashed into the fence of an apartment complex Saturday evening.

The car burst into flames upon impact.

The accident happened on the 3900 block of Ware Rd.

McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez told Action 4 News that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were trying to pull him over for a traffic violation when the chase began.

Police actually backed off a mile before the crash.

No one at the apartment complex was injured.
