South Padre Island police arrested 19-year-old David Elias on an aggravated assault charge.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called out to the 2300 block of Laguna Boulevard around 1:56 a.m. Monday.

Officers found 23-year-old Jonathan Jimenez bleeding with a stab wound to his abdomen.

Paramedics rushed Jimenez to the Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville for treatment.

A motive is not clear but police identified Elias as the suspect and arrested him.

The Brownsville mean appeared before South Padre Island Municipal Judge David Colwell on Monday morning where he was issued a $20,000 dollar bond.
