Marilu Moreno and her cousin Janie Reyna are enraged at what happened on Tuesday night.

Moreno's hand is wrapped in a cast, an injury she says, was inflicted by a police officer, Sergeant Stephen Trejo.

It happened on the intersection of FM 1015 and Gonzalez road in Progreso.

Sgt. Stephen Trejo pulled Moreno over and cited her for speeding and failure to show proof of insurance.

Progreso police confirmed that instead of signing the ticket, Moreno started dialing a number on her phone.

Sgt. Trejo allegedly proceeded to grab Moreno's phone from her.

It was then that the phone was broken and her hand was injured.

Sgt. Trejo also reached and pulled the keys out of the ignition.

"This is something that's been done, this is somebody that's getting hurt. They're hurting people. We want justice, and somebody has to do justice for us,” says cousin Janie Reyna.

Although Capt. Alberto Rodriguez with Progreso Police comes to Sergeant Trejo's defense, he said an internal affairs investigation is underway.

“I believe that Sergeant Trejo was doing his job and like I said, I am conducting an investigation on this matter,” he says.
