Paramedics rushed three children to a local hospital following an accident involving a Harlingen school bus.

It all happened at the railroad tracks next to the Peter Piper Pizza off North 77 Sunshrine Strip around 7:34 a.m. Monday.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that the bus stopped at the railroad tracks as required by state law.

Officers said 21-year-old Pablo Padilla rear-ended the bus in a 2000 Chevy Astro van.

Padilla was not injured but police cited him with failure to control speed.

Investigators said there were 36 children aboard the bus at the time of the accident.

Paramedics took three children to the hospital for observation after they reported having headaches.
