A heated argument ended with a Harlingen couple having to cool off behind bars after they allegedly stabbed each other with a fork.

Harlingen police arrested 25-year-old Omar Gonzalez and 18-year-old Bianca Marie Areola on Thursday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started at the couple’s home off North C and Lee Streets early Thursday morning.

Police said Areola woke up Gonzalez prompting an argument between the two.

Areola allegedly stabbed Gonzalez with a fork when the argument heated up. He allegedly responded by getting the fork from her and stabbing her back.

Both of them had wounds from the fork but refused medical treatment.

Officers took the fork as evidence and charged both of them with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence.

Gonzalez and Areola appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Friday morning where they were each issued $10,000 dollar bonds.
