The race is heating up for mayor and city comissioners in the City of Hidalgo.

Hidalgo Mayor John David Franz made accusations Monday that his rivals, Concerned Citizens Group, made racial slurs directed toward african-american supporters of Community United.

Concerned Citizens Group said they're not racist and that Community United is just playing dirty politics.

"He is trying to divide us,” Mayoral candidate for CCG, Martin Cepeda said.  “We don't want that.  We don't want to fight with anybody.  We are promoting a clean campaign adn they've been promoting an ugly campaign."

Whoever wins, Cepeda said the community needs to work together.
