Gun battle brings Matamoros eastside to a halt

A Saturday evening gun battle brought life to a standstill on the eastside of Matamoros.

It all happened on series of streets from between downtown and the Mexican side of the Veterans International Bridge.

Matamoros residents used the social media network Twitter first reportedd the violence off Avenida Lauro Villar and Canales around 7 pm Saturday.

The American Consulate in Matamoros issued a warning on Twitter and later reported it all ended around 7:30 p.m.

No reports have been filed about injuries or  deaths.
