An alert has been lifted at Garza Elementary School in McAllen after authorities found dozens of immigrants inside a nearby stash house.

It all happened at a home off North 29th Street and Lark Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Border Patrol agents and McAllen police were at the home where authorities found at least 60 immigrants inside.

Investigators said men, women and children were all found inside the home.

One smuggler is reported in custody and could be charged on Wednesday morning.

McAllen ISD officials told Action 4 News that Garza Elementary was never in danger but they placed it on guarded alert as a precaution.

Neighbors shared photos of a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopters seen hovering above the neighborhood.

Border Patrol agents said they first learned about the illegal activity at the home thanks to a tip.
