San Benito police arrested 18-year-old Amber Marie Rios early Sunday morning.

A San Benito babysitter is facing criminal charges after being accused of walking off the job and the children she was supposed to watch got outside their home.

San Benito police arrested 18-year-old Amber Marie Rios early Sunday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called to the 100 block of Colorado Street around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

A woman told police that her two children were missing.

The woman told investigators that Rios was her niece and was supposed to be babysitting the children.

Rios allegedly told police that she took off to her boyfriend's house while and children were asleep leaving them alone.

Police found the children outside the home sleeping under the table with a blanket and a pillow.

Investigators charged Rios with three counts of abandoning or endangering a child.

Rios appeared before a San Benito municipal judge where she was issued $30,000 dollars in bonds.

The 18-year-old remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.

Child Protective Services is investigating the incident.
