Two Edinburg CISD elementary schools were temporarly placed under lockdown after authorities reported a man with gun reported in the area.
It all happened in a neighborhood near Highway 107 and Val Verde Road around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies received a reported about a man with a gun in the area.
According to police radio traffic, the man had a woman with him and was firing a gun in the direction of houses.
The incident prompted Edinburg CISD to put both San Carlos and John Fitzgerald Kennedy Elementary School under lockdown.
School district officials said the neighboring campuses were only placed under lockdown for a few minutes.
Authorities lifted the lockdown after the suspect was caught.
