Several 911 calls led to arrest of alleged drunk driver

An alleged drunk driver led Mercedes police on chase into Harlingen Wednesday night.

According to Mercedes Police Chief Olga Maldonado, several 911 calls were made into her department about the driver posing a danger on the road.

Mercedes police pulled the car over near Mile One East, but the driver decided to start back up on the road leading several Mercedes police units into the city of Harlingen.

He was finally forced to stop the car on Tyler Street, was arrested, and is in police custody
