McAllen Police are investigating how a woman's body ended up in an alley behind 17th Street on Sunday afternoon.

Chief Victor Rodriguez told Action 4 News they are treating it as a homicide.

He said officers responded to the 300 block of 17th Street at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers found the woman's body in the alley between 17th Street and Bicentennial Blvd.

Chief Rodriguez said the body belongs to a woman in her mid-50's.

They are not releasing her identity until the family is notified.

The body did not have any signs of trauma, according to Chief Rodriguez.

He added they will perform an autopsy on Monday to determine the cause of death.

Action 4 News will post more information as it becomes available.
