Suspect in McAllen WalMart shooting arrested in Nuevo Progreso

The suspect in a botched robbery at a WalMart store in McAllen is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley after fleeing to Mexico.

McAllen police told Action 4 News that aggravated robbery suspect Aaron Solorzano is now in custody.

The 25-year-old suspect is accused of stealing a shopping cart full of merchandise from the WalMart off South Jackson Avenue late Saturday night.

Two store employees tried to stop Solorzano but he shot one of them got shot in the hand while the other was cut in the hand by a knife.

McAllen police said Solorzano lives in Palmview but was last seen in Donna, Texas and then later crossed into Nuevo Progresso, Tamaulipas.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Mexican authorities located Solorzano in Nuevo Progreso and extradited him to the U.S. Marshals on the American side of the border.

Solorzano appeared before a McAllen municipal court judge where he was issued $500,000 dollar in bonds.
