One of two suspects, involved in a Weslaco Stripes robbery, has been arrested and charged for threatening and burglarizing an employee.

The theft happened at 4 a.m. on March 10 at the Stripes convenience store on 901 W. Business 83.

Ricardo Ramirez, the suspect in custody, allegedly held the clerk at knifepoint while the other fugitive acted as the lookout.

Both men fled the store with cash, cigarettes and multiple cases of beer.

Various leads came in about this case and with the help from the U.S. Marshall Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force, Ramirez was taken into custody March 22.

The other suspect, last seen wearing a gray hooded “Texas Longhorns” sweater, is still at large.

Ramirez was charged with aggravated robbery and given a $100,000 bond.

Weslaco investigators are hoping to make a second arrest soon.
