Barricaded man surrenders to Brownsville police

A man who allegedly threatened to kill himself with a knife is now in custody of Brownsville police.

Officers were called out to a home on the on Madison Street near Palm Boulevard at about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators said a man called the 9-1-1 system saying he was going to kill himself.

Police negotiated with the man for a while before they were able to safely take him into custody.

It's not clear why the man threatened to harm himself.
