The 23-year-old mother, who left her daughter in the car at the Harlingen night club, claims that she is a cousin of District Attorney Armando R. Villalobos.

Armando R. Villalobos is running for U.S. Congress and has been the Cameron County District Attorney for over seven years.

Frances Marie Saucedo told an officer she would be getting a “slap on the wrist” for the incident as a threat towards the district attorney’s campaign.

In response Villalobos said "I have been blessed with a very large and loving family.  From time to time, family members have made mistakes but have been held accountable, despite their relationship to me.  Our practice in the DA's Office, when a case involving a family member is presented to us, is to assign it to an Attorney Pro Tem for handling.  We anticipate the same for this particular matter.  I am sure Ms. Sauceda regrets her careless comments, but those comments--as her family ties to me--are irrelevant."
