New information has emerged about a man who Harlingen police is the fourth suspect in a recent kidnapping that ended with a chase.
Three suspects are already behind bars for the March 9th kidnapping but investigators only recently linked Jose Antonio Gonzales.
The 42-year-old El Ranchito man is believed to be the fourth suspect in the kidnapping of a man outside a Harlingen McDonald’s.
Police rescued the victim following a dramatic chase that ended with a crash near Rio Hondo.
Suspects Hector Primitivo Salinas, Pedro Francisco Garza and Alexander Hernandez remain behind bars at the County County Jail.
Harlingen Police Cmdr. Miryam Anderson said Gonzalez wasn't involved in the chase but had a hand in the kidnapping.
"Jose Antonio Gonzalez actually helped in coordinating the kidnapping,” Cmdr. Andersson said. “The information that we received is that he may have provided the equipment that the three other men used to effect the kidnapping on that day."
Cmdr. Anderson said investigators are still putting together the pieces but a lot of new information is emerging about the motives for the kidnapping.
"The investigators are still talking to the victim and he has provided them with information,” Cmdr. Anderson said. “We do know that there was some kind of relationship bewteen the three men that were arrested and the victim.”
Public records show that Gonzales last known address was at a home on Encantada Circle just off Military Highway in rural Cameron County community of El Ranchito.
Gonazales does not appear to have a previous criminal record but Cmdr. Anderson said he should be considered armed and dangerous like any fugitive in a violent crime.
“We ask that nobody try to apprehend this male but instead give us a call and we will respond to it,” Cmdr. Anderson said.
