Wendy's responded to the allegations made by the attorney of a teenager who was allegedly sexually assaulted while working at the restaurant on Boca Chica Boulevard.
This Brownville’s Wendy’s is owned by a franchisee based out of Laredo called Exelco Incorporated.
According to Exelco, Wendy’s prohibits any form off harassment and the company provides training to management staff regarding sexual harassment.
"We know that there have been several instances of rapes and sexual torture by managers, and supervisors of Wendy's and we're going to take the discovery and get the sworn statements and get to the bottom of that we know that our government has told us our supreme court has told us that corporations are people and it's now time for the criminal laws to be applied to corporations like they are to people." said Robert Collins, the victim’s attorney.
The franchisee also told Action 4 News, “When we learned that the individual in question was uncomfortable with one of her co-workers, we promptly investigated the situation. As a result, this co-worker was immediately terminated, the matter was reported to the police and we began an internal investigation.”
The local police and franchisee are cooperating together in this investigation.
