A warrant was issued for 23-year-old Edgar Alvarez Martinez who had been accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl.
Brownsville Police had found the girl at the Gateway International Bridge after the mother notified officer’s that her daughter ran away.
Once in custody, the teen told a deputy that she had runaway because of problems she was having at home with her parents and their concern of her relationship with Martinez.
The mother believed her daughter was being sexually abused by the 23-year-old.
The victim admitted to having consensual sex with Martinez, but said she was forced after that.
Martinez allegedly would lock her in his home, bite her and threaten her with a gun.
The teen said would fire shots outside the house and held a gun to her head twice in order to scare her.
Martinez was arrested and is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
His bond is set for $375,000.
