A Port Isabel family is homeless after an overnight fire burned their mobile home to the ground on Saturday night.
Police Chief Gualberto Gonzalez said the fire broke out at about 10:30 at a home on the 500 block of Highway 100.
Traffic was temporarily halted on Highway 100 as fire crews battled the flames, using a fire hydrant across the road.
Chief Gonzalez said the home burned to the ground, but crews were able to contain the flames before they spread to neighboring mobile homes.
He added that no injuries were reported, although one person was treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire knocked down several power lines, forcing emergency crews to cut electricity to the neighboring area.
AEP was called on scene, but it is unclear whether power has been restored, as of Sunday morning.
Investigators will now shift through the damage to determine the cause of the fire.
