Harlingen Police Department has been filing reports regarding thefts that are all too similar.

P.D. received a call Friday about a catalytic converter stolen from a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

It is presumed that the suspect(s) used an electric reciprocating saw to cut the converter from the vehicle.

Since this initial report, more calls have been coming in about similar situations and the targets all seem to be 2000 model Jeep Grand Cherokees.

The parking lots of Wal-Mart, Target, Kohl’s and Valley Vista Mall are the prime locations of the thefts.

It is possible that the male suspect(s) have been seen in a small gray SUV.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts or any other crime can call the Harlingen Police Department at (956)216-5400 or the Harlingen Area Crime Stoppers at (956) 425-TIPS (8477).
