Strong wind gusts from a Friday morning cold front left more than 2,200 without power on Friday morning.

According to AEP Texas, some 1,911 customers were without power in Hidalgo County.

In Cameron County, another 310 homes and businesses were without power in neighborhoods in northeast Harlingen.

AEP Texas spokesman Frank Espinoza told Action 4 News that the power failures are attributed to the weather.

Espinoza said the Hidalgo County power failures were reported in the north Alamo area.

Work crews already restored power to 500 customers in Hidalgo County by 11 a.m. Friday.
