The predicament of an Edinburg family of six having to live in a rundown trailer for over a year is finally over.
Maria Puente is all smiles following the completion of a house she can finally call her own, built by Faith Communities for Disaster Recovery.
The brand new, three bedroom, almost 900 square foot house, is the product of more than 800 hours of work by volunteers across the state.
Puente praises all the helped she's received following Action 4 News initial report of her living situation.
After a fire destroyed her home last year in Edinburg, Maria, her husband and her their children have been living in a trailer she bought for $1000.
But the floors and walls were rotting, and the ceiling caving in.
Maria said what hurt her the most was not having a ramp to get her daughter Stephanie, who is disabled, in and out of the home.
The home just needs walls put up and insulation installed before Maria receives the keys to her new life.
One she expects to be filled with happiness and took a little less than 3 months to build.
Completion of the house is expected by early March.
