Several Valley groups are joining efforts to raise money for a nine-year-old girl diagnosed with a brain tumor, to get her therapy in Houston.

One of the groups, the Valley Ghost Hunters Society, held a candlelight vigil for Estrellita Mendo Friday night, outside her hospital room at the Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.

The tumor is debilitating her nine-year-old body and doctors had to surgically insert a feeding tube to keep her eating.

Dozens of family members, friends and even total strangers gathered outside the hospital to pray for Estrellita’s recovery.

"We love you Lord and we thank you," Tony Cisneros led in prayer. “We are proclaiming, confessing and believing healing for Estrellita tonight.”

Cisneros is with the Valley Ghost Hunters Society and helped organize the vigil.

The organization’s Facebook campaign helped gather many of the people in attendance, including people that have never met Estrellita before.

Her mother Iram is very thankful for the support complete strangers have shown for her daughter.

“I’m very moved and happy that they’re all here at my side,” she said at the vigil. “I just want to see Estrellita shinning once again as she was before.”

Several specialized clinics said there is nothing more they can do for Estrellita.

But perhaps her last hope for success is the expensive Burzynski Clinic in Houston.

The Valley Ghost Hunters Society is working to raising funds to get Estrellita to Houston for treatment.

They teamed up with the local wresting group “Wrestling Revolution” to host a fundraiser for nine-year-old.

It will take place on Feburary 23 at Cine El Rey in downtown McAllen.

They have also set up a website to raise money for Estrellita. Their goal is to get $5000.
