Early tax filing is already underway but not without issue.

According to a notice on the Internal Revenue Service website, some tax payers will have to wait an extra week to get their returns.

The IRS released a statement reading in part, “as with the start of any tax season, there are system validations that occur requiring some fine-tuning of our systems.”

The IRS blames the delay on new fraud protection safeguards but says the majority of tax payers will not be effected by the delay.

For the complete statement from the IRS, head to the IRS tax reunds webpage.
