Reynosa residents took to social media networks to report drug cartel violence from early Thursday morning and then again late in the afternoon.

It all started around 5:30 a.m. Thursday with reports of gunfire in the Bermudes, Cumbres and Fuentes neighborhoods in west Reynosa.

One resident posted a video with heavy gunfire an smoke of the pre-dawn shootout to YouTube.

It's not clear if anyone was killed or injured in gun battle.

Residents also used the #reynosafollow hashtag of Twitter to report a chase and more gunfire around 4:40 p.m. Thursday in the Los Muros neighborhood.

Area residents reported that a soldier had been injured in the firefight with armed criminals.

Authorities are not confirming any information about the shootouts at this time.
